Project Overview

On December 15th, 2022, we began a kitchen rewiring and fuse board replacement project for a private client in New Town, Edinburgh. The project, with a budget of £6,500, was centered on delivering a top-notch electrical installation that aligned with the specific needs of both the client and their architect. From the initial inquiry, where we provided a detailed written quote based on the client’s drawings and specifications, to the final completion and certification, we ensured that every stage of the project was handled with the utmost care and professionalism.

Our Solutions

The main challenge we faced was the client’s request to avoid placing appliance isolators above the kitchen countertops. They preferred to have only electrical sockets visible above the counter, with all other switched fused spurs hidden inside cabinets, carefully positioned so they did not reduce the available workspace. To meet this requirement, we collaborated closely with the team from German Kitchens, who had designed and custom-built the kitchen. The precision required in our electrical installation was paramount, as the kitchen components were meticulously crafted, leaving no room for errors.

Throughout the project, we successfully adapted to several changes requested by the client, ensuring that our work was completed on time and in accordance with the high standards expected. Our careful planning and attention to detail were crucial in delivering a flawless electrical system that integrated seamlessly with the bespoke kitchen design.

Project Summary

This project involved rewiring the kitchen and replacing the fuse board in a detached three-bedroom house. We installed a new Domestic 18th Edition type RCBO fuse box with a Surge Protection Device (SPD), LED COB downlights throughout the house, LED outdoor wall lighting, and LED lighting for the path and driveway. Additionally, we fitted 13 amp double sockets with USB ports, wired a speaker system with room controllers, installed mains-linked smoke alarms, and provided sockets and LED lighting for the garage. We also connected the heating controls and boiler system.
